How To Make Doll Shoes At Home Without Sewing
It could be fun and economical to design doll shoes from home without needing to apply to stitch and still produce good looking shoes. Stitching can be quite complicated if one does not know how to do so and a method that does not need stitching is better. To begin the process, you have to get several items and materials that are usually found easily and at low prices as well. Vinyl is necessary for the project and the good thing is that vinyl is inexpensive and also easy to use especially if not flimsy. Being sturdy and strong makes leather straps a perfect choice for making the doll shoes for those who would prefer leather than vinyl.
Trims are also needed and there are different types of the trims including braided, sequin and others that are also suitable. Cereal or cookie cardboards and six millimeter foams will also be needed to make the doll shoes. Glue is also necessary and a glue stick that will help when placing the glue and it is important to use them sparingly so as not to create unwanted residues in the shoes. Rubber cement can also be used in place of normal glue but you need to be cautious using the rubber cement because inhaling it can cause some effects. You will also require a pair of scissors, a hobby knife, and leather punchers to make it easier to drill the leather. For laces one may choose ribbon or poly cord laces for the shoes.
The first step is to cut all the pattern pieces including cardboard, vinyl, and foam into desired size and width. Using a leather punch, boreholes into the uppers made from leather straps and any cut-outs can be removed using the hobby knife. Thirdly, take the vinyl and cardboard soles and apply glue to hold them together while ascertaining they are firmly glued. Next, glue the front upper to the upper cardboard sole and wrap the material around the sole while cutting small pieces to make the sole flat. After the cardboard soles and front upper are glued, proceed to glue the upper part to the back of the shoe and repeat the third step.
Pick the respective foams and apply hot glue and then glue them together with the uppers while pressing them to ensure they leave no gaps. Then take the trims and use glue to stick it onto the foam while ensuring to press so that they stick properly. Once the foam and trims are glued, cut the trims to needed size and then glue the endings to close the shoe. To ensure that the shoes are perfect, one might use old doll legs to act as shoe lasts to help in molding the shoes into perfect shapes and size.
